John LeRoy, who identified himself as Houdashelt’s brother‑in‑law, thanked the First Responders for their efforts and offered special thanks to Officer Kason Siemens, who pulled Houdashelt’s young grandson from the water. “We’re very grateful for everything your team did,” LeRoy said. Terry LeRoy said she and her husband are committed to making sure local responders have needed equipment.
The recognition was followed by a round of thanks from councilmembers as the responders circulated through the meeting room. No formal action or funding decision on equipment was recorded at the meeting; the public comments reflected community appreciation and an offer of private support.
