Mid America College remains on conditional approval; board requires NCLEX improvement plan and presentation in September

Janelle Martin summarized the program’s performance, saying the past three years’ first‑time NCLEX pass rates were "47 percent, 63 percent, and 62 percent," and noted turnover in program leadership and faculty that has affected stability. Martin said staff requested "an updated NCLEX improvement plan to be submitted by August 15 for inclusion in the September board meeting packet," and required the program director to attend the September board meeting to present the plan and updated first‑time pass‑rate statistics to the committee and the board.
Because of the three years of below‑standard first‑time pass rates, staff recommended continued conditional approval with a cease‑admission status pending review of the 2025–26 cohort at the September 2026 board meeting. The committee voted to continue conditional approval and adopt the reporting schedule. Committee members said they wanted to give the program time to show progress but emphasized the need for measurable improvement before any admission or approval changes.
The committee set the September meeting as a review point for any changes to admission status and asked staff to include updated materials in the board packet.
