Harrison council approves consent calendar, schedules building-permit workshop; mayor to sign drinking-water funding offer

The Harrison City Council approved the consent calendar May 14, which included payment of April bills and the approval of several past meeting minutes. Will Butler moved to approve the consent calendar; Josephine Prophet seconded. The vote recorded one NAY (Joe Cornell) and the remainder AYE.
The council agreed to hold a workshop on building permits on May 21, 2025 at 4:00 PM to review permit types and a proposed checklist and cover page after the Public Works and Administration Committee’s review. Mayor Wanda Irish reported 14 Boy Scouts participated in a community cleanup and thanked council members who attended. She also said the city has received Drinking Water Emerging Contaminants funding offer documents that must be signed and returned by June 30, 2025; the council approved pursuing the funding at a prior meeting and she intends to sign the documents. The city expects to receive the 2023 audit report next week and the auditor will present two reports to the council.
Staff reports listed representatives from I.HMH Engineering, the city attorney, and public works; City Clerk Miriah Pfeiffer noted she will be working Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Committee meeting dates were set: Administration Committee on May 28 at 8:30 a.m. and Public Works Committee on May 27 at 8:30 a.m. Joe Cornell moved to adjourn; Will Butler seconded and the meeting ended at 7:55 p.m. following an all-AYE vote.
