Hoyt council reviews SEED-grant update, school security and a street-opening request

At the Sept. 16 special meeting, the council received updates on SEED grants and a parking-lot repair request from Elm Creek Beef, discussed law-enforcement presence at home high-school games, considered community-service projects for Kay members, and asked the clerk to gather details on a Burnett Street opening request.
After handling the KDHE loan application items, the council heard several brief local updates. Joe Romans reported on SEED grants offered through the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and on a parking-lot repair request from Matt Swenson of Elm Creek Beef. Romans also raised whether law enforcement could be present at home high-school football and basketball games.
Debbie Dreasher discussed project opportunities for 'Kay members' to earn community-service hours and asked staff to consult with Kenny Bryan about available projects. The council also discussed a request from a property owner to open Burnett Street through to the next street; the city clerk was asked to get more details and invite the property owner to the next meeting.
The council adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
