Hoyt council discusses UTV ordinance revisions and presses Giant Communication on right-of-way fee

On a separate but related regulatory matter, the council reviewed a right-of-way ordinance presented by Giant Communication. The minutes record that Giant offered to pay the city $0.07 per foot of communication facility toward right-of-way maintenance; the minutes note that agreements in other jurisdictions, for example Oskaloosa, have been at $0.09 per foot. The city attorney recommended reviewing Hoyt's prior agreement and said he would discuss asking Giant to pay the higher rate.
The minutes do not record a council decision or numerical vote on either the UTV ordinance revisions or the Giant Communication fee. The attorney's review and any negotiation with Giant are recorded as follow-up items.
