Other requests sent to print included RS 32599 (a trailer bill to H 206 clarifying county-related language), RS 32592 (filing rules for independent presidential and vice-presidential candidates and electors), and RS 32590 (directing excess bond sale funds toward rural schools with the greatest demonstrated need, following up on House Bill 521 from the 2024 session). Each of these motions carried by voice vote.
Senator Shippy presented RS 32585, a joint memorial supporting the Stibnite Gold Project, urging federal and State agencies to complete permitting without unnecessary delays. In committee remarks, Senator Shippy said supporters expect a $2.2 billion investment during construction and approximately 500 direct jobs; he also said the U.S. Forest Service issued a final record of decision on Jan. 3, 2025. Senator Adams moved to send the memorial to print, Senator Toews seconded, and the motion carried by voice vote.
The committee approved minutes for Feb. 19, Feb. 21 and Feb. 24, 2025 on separate motions that carried by voice vote. Following these actions, the committee proceeded to its agenda item on utility wildfire liability.
