Resident urges Hoyt to ease UTV permit rules; council to revisit ordinance

A resident asked the Hoyt City Council to consider loosening the city's utility terrain vehicle (UTV) permitting requirements.
Matt Thurman appeared before the council to say, to his knowledge, Hoyt is the only nearby city that requires both inspections and blinkers as part of a UTV permit. He asked the council to amend the ordinance to remove those requirements. Council member Joe Romans said he would circulate updated information on UTV requirements for review and the council agreed to revisit the ordinance at next month’s meeting.
No formal amendment or vote was taken at the Aug. 6 meeting. The council requested staff circulate comparative requirements so members can consider specific ordinance changes before taking formal action.
