Dawson County work session adds treatment-court staffing, grants, safety-barrier bid and intergovernmental agreements to upcoming voting agendas

Brad Williams, director of the Judicial Accountability Division, presented two related items: a request to create a Treatment Court Case Manager position and a request to accept the FY 2026 Treatment Court grant. Both items were reported as additions to the board's June 5 Voting Session agenda.
Purchasing Manager Melissa Hawk, joined by Sheriff Jeff Johnson on the IFB item, presented IFB #476-25 for materials and labor to install concrete crash-rated security barriers; the board was told the procurement item will be placed on the July 3, 2025 Voting Session agenda. Emergency Services Director Troy Leist presented an updated Mutual Aid Assistance Memorandum of Agreement with U.S. Army Garrison Fort Benning to be added to the June 5 voting agenda and also presented a memorandum of understanding with the City of Johns Creek Fire Department concerning clinical-education placements, which will be placed on the July 3, 2025 Voting Session agenda.
Senior Services Director Dawn Johnson presented FY2025 Legacy Link Contract Addendum No. 2; that item was scheduled for addition to the June 5 voting agenda. Purchasing Manager Melissa Hawk also presented an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Dawson County concerning a radio-system upgrade at the Monument Road site; the board added that agreement to the June 5 voting agenda.
Todd Edwards of the Association County Commissioners of Georgia presented the ACCG 2025 Legislative Service Award to State Representative Will Wade; Rep. Wade addressed the board following the presentation. County Attorney Angela Davis reported no matters.
All items were presented for placement on voting-session agendas; no final votes or contract awards were recorded in the work session minutes.
