The Town of Proctor Selectboard on July 14 directed Town Manager Judy Frazier to write to a Whites Crossing property owner asking for a proposal from an attorney and a letter of support from other property owners on the road to document a request to take ownership.
The instruction came during the board92s review of bills and administrative business; the board did not take final action on the ownership request but set the next step as a manager-facilitated collection of legal documentation and neighbor support. Town Manager Judy Frazier told the board she would send the requested letter to the property owner.
On a related administrative topic, Frazier presented handouts from two credit-card vendors about accepting card payments for utility bills. She said she will gather additional information, reach out to the Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT) for any preferred-vendor lists and for examples of other municipalities that accept card payments, and return to the Selectboard with recommendations. The board left the matter on the agenda for a future meeting.
The motions to approve the agenda addition and to approve minutes earlier in the meeting were seconded and approved unanimously; all other steps on the Whites Crossing and utility payments items were procedural directions rather than final votes.
