River Ridge board reviews traffic-calming plan, authorizes driveway repair and hears lake-treatment update

The River Ridge Board reviewed the Traffic Calming Assessment 2025 and heard that education-based road, bike and golf-cart safety measures are underway. District Engineer Charlie Krebs said three permanent and one mobile speed radar signs will be delivered the first week of February and that speeding violations have decreased. Krebs asked supervisors to advise him or Chair Bob Schultz of any areas needing further consideration, and residents will be informed about existing mandates and proposed crosswalk and golf-cart signage.
Chair Bob Schultz presented an email and photos from Mr. McNeill showing an overgrown shrub obscuring a speed limit sign at 21800 Southern Hills Drive; the board agreed to remove the shrub and Mrs. Adams will reply to Mr. McNeill. Krebs will update the Traffic Calming Assessment to record the traffic study conclusions and proposed treatments.
Dustin Hormann of Premier Lakes reported minimal red algae in the lakes (scheduled for treatment), that dry-retention areas had been treated, and that aeration issues were corrected except for two aerators that need electrical work next week. He said a "zombie box" installation at the Masters is delayed by a back order and expected in about three weeks. Eric Long asked Krebs to obtain costs to replant cordgrass and arrowhead behind 20859 Glen Eagles Lakes Drive.
On a separate motion related to property repairs, the board ratified MRI Construction Proposal #514 for driveway repairs at 21320 Pelican Sound Drive in the amount of $12,000 on a motion by Keith Merrill, seconded by Bob Schultz; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff also presented the curb and sidewalk inspection report and said quantities were provided to Collier Paving to obtain repair quotes; homeowners will receive a memorandum explaining they are responsible for repairing their driveways where applicable. The board set the next regular meeting for Feb. 25, 2025.
