River Ridge residents press board to address Lake 8 flooding; engineer recommends Seaside-style regrading

Rich Batterberry, speaking on behalf of several Oak Run residents, told the River Ridge board that rainwater pooling from the monument halfway down Lake 8 takes a long time to recede and that residents are concerned it is getting under foundations. Batterberry said one resident incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water intrusion through a floor.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the scope of the work previously performed at Seaside and said the Lake 8 issues could likely be addressed by completing similar regrading and stormwater adjustments because the area had not been re-graded previously. Chair Bob Schultz said the board would consider the matter during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process.
Separately in staff reports, Krebs noted the plug separating two flow-way basins may have been damaged during prior clearing and that water is flowing from CB-199, behind 20855 Glen Eagles Links Drive; he will send information to the district manager for MRI to review and re-establish the plug. The engineering observations and the planned inclusion in the next budget cycle indicate staff will develop cost estimates for residents and the board before committing to a specific project.
The matter was recorded for further study rather than immediate work; supervisors requested cost estimates and that the issue be addressed during the upcoming budget process.
