River Ridge board terminates Laz’s Lawn Service, hires GulfScapes at $58,500

The River Ridge Community Development District voted Nov. 19 to terminate its landscape maintenance agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service, Inc., citing poor performance, and to immediately engage GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services at a proposed annual cost of $58,500.
Cleo Adams recommended terminating the current contract and presented GulfScapes’ proposal; board discussion noted the GulfScapes price is roughly $13,000 above the $45,000 budgeted amount but that staff could offset the difference by applying payments withheld from Laz’s Lawn and other unassigned funds. Board members also said engaging GreenScapes was not an option because that vendor declined to execute the district’s contract form.
On a motion by Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Bob Schultz, the board authorized termination of Laz’s Lawn Service and immediate engagement of GulfScapes; the motion passed with all supervisors voting in favor.
Staff will proceed with contract execution and apply withheld payments and available funds to offset the higher cost as discussed.
