Board approves RG Architects gatehouse redesign and Bowman signage program; financing timing set

The Board approved engaging RG Architects, P.A. to redesign two gatehouses and accepted a Bowman Consulting Group proposal to handle landscape architecture for a master signage and monument replacement program.
Eric Long said the gatehouses will receive a facelift rather than be demolished; he told the Board the main gate needs redesign because low clearance led to 12 strikes this year. The Board discussed zoning, elevation certificates, permitting and the need for new elevation certificates; Mr. Krebs said construction plans may be available from prior Development Order submissions.
Because design and permitting will take 12 to 18 months, staff proposed booking the $62,500 design expenditure as a reimbursable (to be invoiced to the CDD when financing is issued) so work can start without delay. The Board authorized Bowman to retain RG as a subconsultant under Bowman terms and empowered the Chair to execute documents after review by District Counsel and the District Manager. Mr. Long will lead the projects, and Mr. Blumenthal will serve as the Board liaison for neighborhood communications.
Separately, the Board approved the Bowman Consulting Group proposal to replace monuments throughout the CDD. Some neighborhood monuments will be relocated; neighborhood replacement costs and permitting will be managed from Pelican Sound replacement reserves. No construction contracts were awarded at this meeting; the approvals allow design work to proceed.
