Oelrichs School District board approves $600,000 Impact Aid transfer and authorizes $25/hour snow removal pay

The Board of Education of the Oelrichs School District 23-3 unanimously approved transferring $600,000 from the district's Impact Aid account to the General Fund and accepted unaudited financial reports at its Dec. 16, 2025 regular meeting at the high school.

Board President John Cope called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and the board recorded members present as John Cope, Katie Merdanian, Marty Schommer and Lance Tlustos; Dave Osmotherly was absent.

The transfer motion was made by Katie Merdanian and seconded by Marty Schommer; the board also voted to accept the unaudited financial statements and authorize payment of all invoiced claims on a motion by Lance Tlustos, seconded by Merdanian. The minutes state that, unless otherwise noted, all actions were recorded as unanimous.

The minutes include reported account balances for the period: General Fund beginning balance $6,583.49 with receipts of $114,266 and disbursements of $189,106.96 (ending balance shown as -$68,257.47); Capital Outlay beginning $346,981.13 with receipts $67,613.43 and disbursements $70,319.03 (ending $344,275.53); Special Education ending $118,106.61; Impact Aid $9,671,109.04; Food Service ending $8,968.06; Custodial balance $15,409.27.

Board President John Cope provided a brief update on high-school construction, reporting progress with the district's attorneys and engineers; the minutes record no formal action on construction at this meeting.

No bids were received in response to the district's solicitation for snow removal. On a motion by Marty Schommer, seconded by Lance Tlustos, the board authorized paying existing employees $25 per hour to perform snow removal services. The motion requires that employees receive training and obtain pre-approval from administration before performing snow removal work.
