Oelrichs School Board accepts financial reports and warns of Impact Aid payment delays

The Oelrichs School District 23-3 Board of Education accepted unaudited financial reports and voted to pay all invoiced claims during its Oct. 21 regular meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Mitchell Stone told the board that, because of the federal government shutdown, "the Impact Aid office will not be able to distribute payments" and that the office has "expressed concerns about possible reduction in force action that will reduce the program’s efficiency." He said schools should expect delays in Impact Aid payments.
The board approved the financial motion (mover: Katie Merdanian; seconder: Marty Schommer) by unanimous vote. The minutes list several fund balances, including a General Fund ending balance of $122,625.84 and an Impact Aid balance of $8,944,940.78.
Stone also reported the district's Consolidated Application was approved by the state and that the PRF has been submitted. Principal Peterson reported academic and attendance highlights, including a nine-week grading period in which attendance improvements qualified middle school students for an attendance reward.
The board did not amend the financial figures in the motion; the vote authorized payment of currently invoiced claims and acceptance of the unaudited reports. Stone said a mediation brief on recent gym-floor damage is expected in time for the November meeting.
The board will meet again in November to continue routine business and follow up on pending items including the gym-floor mediation brief and any further updates on Impact Aid distributions.
