Myrtle Creek council approves consent agenda, hears administrative updates

The Myrtle Creek City Council on May 19, 2026 approved Consent Agenda Parts I & II as presented in the council packet. Councilor Diana Larson moved the approval; Councilor Jamie McElmurry seconded. The motion passed with Councilors Cathey Wragg, Robert Chaney Sr., Diana Larson and Jamie McElmurry recorded as voting yes; no 'no' votes were recorded in the meeting minutes.
During department reports, Finance Officer Lesley Hiscocks submitted the April finance report into the record. Police Chief Jonathan Brewster submitted the April police report and shared information on active shooter training. Fire Chief Manie Pires submitted the April fire report, described recent house fires and said fire season may begin the week after Memorial Day. City Administrator Zach Potter submitted the April Public Works report and answered a council question about the pothole repair schedule.
In his city administrator report, Zach Potter said Madrona Drive paving could be done by the end of the week and that the golf course is caught up on mowing; he also said the city had received inquiries about someone interested in running a restaurant at the golf course and suggested that the council hold only one meeting in July and August if there are no pressing issues. Potter announced Wastewater Plant Operator Dave Cox was selected as Operator of the Year.
Mayor Luke Dillon adjourned the meeting at 6:12 p.m.
