Committee backs task force to streamline social‑service licensing; Rehab Services added and deadline moved

Senator Boyd said bill 22-60 would convene Medicaid, the Department of Human Services, Child Protective Services, the Department of Health and the Executive Director of Mental Health to identify inefficiencies and recommend statutory changes to streamline licensing and service delivery. "Our best bills and our best ideals for bills don't come from us; they come from the constituency out there," he said.
Committee members suggested adding the Department of Rehab Services to the task force; the sponsor accepted the amendment as friendly and the committee approved it. Senator Hickman proposed changing the report date to Dec. 1, 2026 to provide more planning time; the committee adopted that amendment.
The committee voted to report the bill out as amended. The amended task force will be required to deliver recommendations by the new deadline so the legislature can consider statutory or code changes next session.
