Orwell Chair outlines schedule for municipal building work; town office due March 5

Andrea Treadway, chair of the Orwell Select Board, told the board on Feb. 23 that the town has set short-term timelines for planned repairs and upgrades to municipal buildings. She said meetings on Feb. 19 with contractor Jason McNolty of All Points Construction & Restoration and architect Shelly Pottorf of Architend produced a schedule that the board is using to coordinate work and minimize disruptions.
The board was told the work at the Orwell Town Office is scheduled to be completed by March 5, and that work at the Firehouse is hoped to begin the second week of March. Town Garage work is anticipated to start between April 12 and April 17. At the Orwell Wastewater Treatment Plant, the board was told lighting work is tentatively scheduled for the second week of June and that installation of a heat pump would depend on leftover project funding.
Treadway listed specific Town Office tasks planned or already completed: trim work and window installation, installation of heat pumps, cleaning of carpeting and a new bathroom light. She also said new wiring had been run to support new outlets and that a contractor, noted as Dundons in the record, removed the boiler exhaust and installed a point-of-source water heater in the Town Office. The Select Board was told those items are on the contractor’s near-term schedule.
The MERP-related schedule is being coordinated across multiple sites to reduce overlap and to ensure operational continuity. The board did not vote on additional funding at the Feb. 23 meeting; several work items at the wastewater plant were described as contingent on available funds. Officials said the town will continue to monitor progress and report back to the Select Board as individual work phases are completed.
