Orwell board hears updates on MERP work, salt/sand shed delivery and truck repairs

Road Foreman Allen M. Alger reported that the highway crew has been grading roads, doing routine maintenance and hauling and spreading gravel. He said interior finishing work on the town’s existing salt shed is underway; a new salt/sand building is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday with installation to start the following Monday. One half of the building cost has been paid up front; remaining payments for concrete work to Myron Concrete and to Scott Hendy and for paving over stones remain outstanding.
On the MERP project, All Points Construction and Restoration worked Monday through Wednesday but did not have the materials needed to install ERVs or lights; Andrea Treadway will meet All Points and Clerk of the Works Tom Purdy on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. to review the work and outstanding items. The town ramp at the Town Office received one coat of paint and had its top railing replaced. Town staff reported the heat pumps require additional refrigerant and a formal sign‑off before they can be placed in service.
The board discussed vehicle maintenance: the windshield on the 2017 Mack truck is being replaced and the board decided not to repair dents from a prior accident at this time. Hans Tudhope said he had picked up metal ties and nails left at the salt shed site and cleaned them up.
