Sandgate approves $1,800 Town Hall lighting, schedules audit and infrastructure checks

The Sandgate Selectboard approved an $1,800 bid to replace Town Hall lighting, signed orders, confirmed an auditor visit and closed routine business on May 4.
The board accepted the $1,800 Town Hall lighting quote and decided to seek additional bids for lighting at the Town Garage because the garage quote exceeded $3,500. The board noted the professional auditor will begin work on May 14; Mark Neff visited earlier and the board hopes he may serve as an auditor pending follow-up.
On building safety and utilities, the board reported the Town Hall drinking-water test kit has arrived and discussed whether to take samples at the well or from building plumbing; Joe Nolan suggested sampling from the pressure tank prior to building plumbing so results inform filtration choices. The board will use results to determine filtration needs and solicit a quote from FW Webb for a custom system if necessary.
Roads and equipment: Joe Nolan reported grading work on Rupert Road and gravel delivery to Hamilton Hollow; Skipper expects to return to fine-grade the road. Mike Oltedal offered a $2,525 quote for cameras at the Town Garage; that quote will be sent to Jay for review and Jay will also research generator costs using remaining small grant funds.
Administrative items: The board approved the April 6 and April 20 minutes (motion by John Phelps; second by Jessica Pendleton) and later adjourned at 7:23 p.m. (motion by Linda Schmidt; second by Joe Nolan). The board agreed to provide Elizabeth Daut a key for Town Hall access for community yoga classes beginning May 20; Jessica Lewis will coordinate key issuance.
Next steps: staff will obtain additional bids where indicated, provide water-test results and quotes for filtration, and report back at a future meeting.
