Pierre commissioners approve 2026 public‑works contracts, amend golf‑cart lease and adopt city engineering standards

Caleb Huizenga and Scott Schweitzer (staff engineers) presented the items; Commissioner Johnson moved and Commissioner Reitzel seconded the awards, which passed unanimously.
Bryan Tipton, Park and Recreation Director, presented an amendment to the existing 50‑cart lease with EZGO and Miller & Sons that would allow the city to switch to electric carts for the remaining two years of the agreement. The amended lease sets the payment at $7,500 per month for the six months each year the course operates; the commission approved the amendment unanimously.
Nick Waters (City Engineer) presented Ordinance 1887 to adopt the City of Pierre Engineering Design and Construction Standards and Ordinance 1888 to amend Section 6‑3‑106 (sidewalk distances) by moving the list of exceptions into Appendix E; the commission adopted both ordinances on second reading unanimously. Waters also presented Resolution 2808 to adopt Appendix E; the commission approved the resolution unanimously. The ordinances and resolution will be published as required by city procedure.
