Sharon conservation commission readies town report and Green Up Day events

At the Jan. 12 meeting the Sharon Conservation Commission set a near-term schedule for its annual Town Report and for Green Up Day activities.
Scott Chestnut will compile commission contributions for the Town Report and submit them to municipal staff member Nicola by Wednesday, Jan. 14. Troi Perkins said she is coordinating Green Up Day efforts and has received materials from regional coordinator Kate Alberghini. Perkins described a student poster contest, a new Green STEM science fair offering a cash prize for solutions to trash, and après-Green Up events at local breweries with a Kentucky Derby hat theme made from recyclable materials.
Troi will provide material updates to Alberghini by Feb. 15 and will catalogue supplies previously provided by volunteer Dick to determine what is reusable. The commission noted a connection with Sharon Connects for Green Up Day festivities and encouraged school involvement where appropriate.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
