Residents press Mosier council on senior mailboxes and bridge speeding; city says it will follow up

Diana Calverly requested an update on senior mailboxes. City Manager Andrea Rogers said there was no progress to report but that staff would follow up. Mayor Witt Anderson told residents they are no longer required to pay for P.O. boxes and encouraged affected residents to speak with the local postmaster about potential refunds; staff will continue work on the issue.
Several residents and stakeholders also pressed for traffic-calming measures around the proposed skate park site and bridge. Steve Erspamer, who lives across from the proposed site, recommended speed bumps prior to park construction. Tracy Humphrey suggested installing speed signs on both sides of the bridge instead of speed bumps; Scott Hage of Wasco County said The Dalles has speed-sign equipment the city might be able to borrow.
Council tasked staff with following up on the senior mailbox payments issue and with pursuing traffic-calming options as part of planning and public-safety considerations ahead of the May 7 hearing.
