Finance staff Amy (identified by the board) presented the June year-to-date financial update, telling trustees the district is projecting a surplus in Fund 10 and that the original budget included "a surplus of about 2,500,000." Amy said the board will transfer amounts to Fund 46 for future capital projects and indicated the roofing analysis estimates roughly $10,000,000 in roofing needs over 10 years while noting Fund 46 currently holds about $6,000,000.
Trustees asked whether moving money to Fund 46 reduces spending flexibility. Amy and other staff explained that transferring to a capital fund can limit fungibility but that it preserves state-aid treatment for those dollars and creates a dedicated balance to pay for major capital work. Amy said final year-end invoice collections and receivables remain pending and that staff will present an updated, finalized number next month.
Board members asked for an update on how budget savings and turnover are being reallocated; finance staff committed to reporting back at the next meeting with updated figures and a clearer projection of available funds for planned capital projects.
