At its July 1 meeting the Wellesley Select Board voted to accept the minutes of the Town-Wide Capital Planning Committee (CapCom) Interview Subcommittee and to formally dissolve that subcommittee.
Select Board member Colette Aufranc moved to accept the minutes and dissolve the subcommittee; the motion was seconded by Select Board member Thomas Ulfelder. The Board polled and approved the motion 5-0.
Shortly after, at 8:07 a.m., Chair Marjorie Freiman moved that the Board enter executive session under M.G.L. c. 30A §21(a), Exemption #3, to conduct strategy with respect to collective bargaining negotiations. The item listed multiple bargaining units: AFSCME Council 93 Local 49 (Custodian Union); AFSCME Council 93 Local 335 Production Unit (DPW); AFSCME Council 93 Local 335 Supervisors Unit (DPW); Wellesley Free Library Staff Association; Wellesley Free Library Supervisor Association; and the Wellesley Police Patrolmen’s Association. The Board invited town staff and library representatives to the executive session, naming Executive Director Meghan Jop, Assistant Executive Director Corey Testa, Human Resources Director Dolores Hamilton, Facilities Director Joe McDonough, Department of Public Works Director Dave Cohen, DPW Assistant Director Jeff Azano-Brown, Library Director Jamie Jurgensen and Library Trustee Marla Robinson.
The Board polled and voted 5-0 to enter executive session; the chair stated that discussing those negotiations in open session would have a detrimental effect on the town’s bargaining position. At 9:43 a.m. Select Board member Colette Aufranc made a motion to return to open session; the Board polled and voted 5-0 to exit the executive session and return to open session for the sole purpose of adjourning. The meeting adjourned at 9:44 a.m. The next Select Board meeting is scheduled for July 21, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Juliani Room, Wellesley Town Hall.
