The Estacada City Council appointed Mark Deloretto to an open council seat on June 1 after interviewing two candidates.
Both applicants answered council questions about public service, priorities and availability; topics included system-level problem-solving experience, communication with residents and time commitments. Councilors discussed candidates’ strengths before making a motion to appoint Deloretto. The council held a roll-call vote; the motion passed with one recorded 'no' vote.
Councilor McElroy (speaker_1) thanked both candidates for applying and encouraged broader participation in committee and commission roles. Mayor Drinkwine said Deloretto will be sworn in at the June 8 meeting and take his seat then.
Next step: oath of office scheduled for June 8; the council will seat Deloretto at that meeting.
