Jay Wilson, Sandgate's Road Foreman, told the Selectboard on June 15 that he had asked for an increased cost-of-living raise in the new fiscal year, saying current cost-of-living increases have exceeded 3 percent. Selectboard members voiced support for the road crew and emphasized the need to see exact figures and evaluate the impact on the overall budget.
Jessica Pendleton said the ask was reasonable given recent cost-of-living changes. Sheila Kearns suggested the board consider conducting six-month budget adjustments in the future as a matter of practice. The board did not adopt a pay increase at the meeting; members agreed to determine the proper process for any mid-year adjustments and to present the request in budget deliberations.
The road crew will address washouts caused by recent storms and continue scheduled mowing around town.
