New town radio repeater extends coverage; fire department warns of dispatch-fee shift and requests $10,000 for bay doors

Tom Lober of the Sharon Fire Department said the department cannot sign the agreement with Hartford Dispatch; only the municipality can, which shifts dispatch fees out of the Fire Department budget and would increase the FY27 budget by roughly $6,000. Lober also asked that the Building Reserve Fund be used to replace two additional bay doors at the back of the fire station, estimating that work at about $10,000.
The board heard these updates during the highway and fire-department budget portions of the meeting and did not take a formal vote on the bay-door request at this session. Members asked for follow-up work on budgeting and funding options in the FY27 process.
