Sandgate Selectboard to review short-term rental ordinances; considers using leftover grant money toward a generator

The Sandgate Selectboard agreed June 1 to review sample short-term rental (STR) ordinances gathered by Selectboard member Rob Viglas and to reconvene at a future meeting to decide appropriate language and regulations for the town.
Rob Viglas said he had collected STR ordinance examples from nearby and similarly sized towns and recommended members take them home to compare possible approaches. The board did not take action at the meeting and will discuss language at the next meeting.
Selectboard member Linda Schmidt reported there is about $800 remaining in a grant account that must be allocated by the end of the month. Board members noted the estimated cost of a small generator would be closer to $3,300 and suggested that, if the town were to invest that amount, a standby generator would be a more secure long-term option. Schmidt said she would ask Jay to coordinate with Randy Novotny, who installed the Town Hall generator, to review options.
Schmidt also reported an imminent need to fill a third-lister position after speaking with Phyllis; board members agreed to seek candidates before the next meeting. The Road Crew reported no concerns and the board commended their ongoing work.
