The Chagrin Falls Arts Commission met May 26 at Remnants Bag Company and approved the minutes from its March 2026 meeting, recorded as approved by appointed members.
The commission reported the Arts Commission/Council Art Award has been presented and is on display in Village Hall. The commission also noted the appointment of Laurie Klopper as the new Merchant Association president and said she will be invited to a future Arts Commission meeting.
Commission members discussed ongoing construction in the village business district. Local merchants raised concerns about the timing of project notifications; the commission said those concerns have been communicated to Village Council leadership.
Commissioners reviewed brief reports from local arts organizations and partners. Valley Art Center reminded the commission that Art by the Falls will take place June 6–7 at the Metroparks Polo Field with about 175 participating artists and community programming. The Chagrin Valley Little Theatre outlined a Centennial Seat Campaign offering 243 seats for sponsorship at $500 each to replace Main Stage seating. The Chagrin Falls History Center recapped a May 30 Home Tour of 20 homes and announced a June 6 exhibition opening developed with a Cleveland Institute of Art student.
The meeting listed the next Arts Commission meetings as July 28 (at CVLT), Sept. 29 (Village Hall, followed by Wine & Cheese Under the Stars) and Nov. 17 (TBD). The meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.
