The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen on July 21 declared two properties a menace to public health and safety, presented a mayor’s award to an animal control officer, and voted to enter executive session for personnel discussions.
Staff reported on several properties on the nuisance list. Two parcels — 6284 McNair Drive and 6580 Renee Drive — remained in unsanitary condition despite notice; staff recommended the board declare them a menace and authorize city staff or contract labor to abate the nuisances. The board opened the public hearing, heard no public comment, and voted to declare the two properties nuisances and directed cleanup.
Earlier in the meeting Mayor Ademann presented a mayor’s award and a $250 cash award (donated by local businesses) to Logan White, an animal control officer nominated by his supervisor Nikki Biffle for his shelter outreach and social-media videos promoting animal adoptions.
Near the end of the meeting the board made a motion, seconded it and voted to leave the record and enter executive session to discuss personnel matters across several departments (administration, airport, dispatch, parks, police, sanitation and water maintenance). The motion carried and the board entered executive session.
The meeting was streamed on the city’s YouTube channel and will be archived for playback.
