City department heads and a Cassia County official presented proposed budgets and priorities for the next fiscal year during a budget workshop at the June 24 special meeting.
Presenters included Sanitation Supervisor Eric Pufal; Street Supervisor Korky Blackner; Water Engineer Bryan Reiter; Wastewater lead Dustin Raney; Parks Director Brent Carver; Cassia County Sheriff Jarrod Thompson; and Golf Pro Scott Draper. Each outlined highlighted projects, equipment needs and staffing requests for council consideration.
Noted items included planned work on the Industrial Wastewater Plant, requests for additional full-time Parks staff and an assistant golf professional, and irrigation-system work at the golf course. City Administrator Brett Boyer briefed the council on anticipated costs for the city’s health insurance benefits and said negotiations with Pacific Source were ongoing to present options to employees and the council.
No formal budget votes were taken at the meeting; these presentations were advertised as workshop discussions to inform budget planning and council priorities for the coming fiscal year. The council adjourned at approximately 8:27 p.m.
