Fleet Superintendent Rick Garner presented the item, saying the mastic machine produces smoke, has required handling of burning Styrofoam and is inefficient for the city’s street projects. Staff told the council the trade partner is Twin Falls Traffic Sign & Safety Company and that the reader boards are 2015 models that come with new batteries.
Street Supervisor Korky Blackner clarified the trade would be conducted with the private company and reiterated concerns about the machine’s suitability for the city’s current work.
Councilmember Raulan Young moved to approve the surplus declaration and trade as presented. Councilmember Jim Powell seconded. A roll-call vote was recorded with all six councilmembers voting in favor; the motion carried 6-0.
