Burley council designates FAA funds for Post River Airport, authorizes mayor to sign

City Administrator Brett Boyer told the Burley City Council on June 23 that if the city cannot use FAA funds it may designate the funds to another eligible entity and that the city has done this in the past. He recommended designating the funds for Post River Airport.
Councilmember Jim Powell moved to approve designating the FAA funds for Post River Airport and to allow the mayor to sign the agreement; Councilmember Kimberli Seely seconded. The roll-call vote was unanimous: Powell, Seely, Young, Andersen, Mills and Hansen voted in favor. The motion carried 6 to 0.
Why it matters: Designating FAA funds to a named airport can accelerate airport projects or maintenance that benefit aviation users and local economic activity. The council did not attach additional conditions in the motion at this meeting.
