County arts alliance plans public-art walking tour; commission updates poetry signs and signage posting

A representative of the Clackamas County Arts Alliance outlined plans for a public-art walking tour of downtown Estacada while the commission reviewed progress on poetry-in-public-places signage.
Ariela Sophie Sternberg (S6) introduced the Alliance’s proposal to lead a walking tour of murals and public art starting at the Spiral Gallery, timed for a Saturday in late July or August. “I work for the Clackamas County Arts Alliance, and we’re in the process of planning an event for this summer ... we’ll be doing a public art tour,” S6 said. The tour organizers hope to coordinate timing with mural restoration work so attendees might see art in progress.
Commissioners also heard from Dave (S7), who said nine poetry signs have been posted and that one sign contains a misspelling; he asked public works to post corrected signs and offered to supply snapshots and locations for social-media promotion. “9 of the signs are up ... there’s 1 with a misspelling,” S7 said. S5 volunteered to create Instagram posts once sign locations are shared.
The commission agreed to promote the mural tour and poetry signs via the city website and social channels and to seek contacts at the Springwater Grange for any future collaboration. No formal votes were recorded on these items.
