Clermont mayor updates Veterans Park progress; council hears GDOT-funded roundabout design for Highway 283

Mayor James Nix told the Clermont Town Council on March 3 that preparations for the fiscal year 2026–2027 budget should begin and asked council members to submit capital-project suggestions to Town Clerk Amy Lomax. Council Member Marcia Kesler asked whether a path from the Town Hall parking lot to Veterans Park would be built; Mayor Nix confirmed that a sidewalk will be installed.
Council Member James Castleberry reported he had received a text from Jason Dykes at the Department of Transportation stating that Hall County has begun designing a roundabout at Highway 283. According to Castleberry’s report in the minutes, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has committed funding for construction; Hall County has allocated $1,000,000 for design and right-of-way acquisition, with the remaining funds designated for construction. The minutes note that intersections at Highways 254 and 284 are still under development.
