Pickens County accepts five accountability court grants and approves opioid-abatement subcontractors

The grants presented to the board were: drug court $581,385; family treatment court $277,569; mental health court $489,281; veterans court $197,436.63; and juvenile drug court $43,155. The board approved acceptance of the grants and asked finance to include the amounts per county policy.
Under the opioid crisis abatement trust, the board approved three subcontractor agreements the staff listed: East LJ Family and Cosmetic Dentistry (dental screening/treatment services), Good Samaritan (screening and administration of medications for opioid use disorder as available), and an individual contractor (Ginger King) to provide individual therapy and evidence-based curriculum for accountability court participants. Staff said these approvals were time-sensitive and required for program operations.
Commissioners voted to approve the contracts and grants; staff indicated some grant deadlines required prompt action.
