Board adopts 2025–26 calendar, affirms grade capacities and delays officer elections

The board approved several governance and operational items including the 2025–26 school calendar, grade capacities, and procedural resolutions.
Dr. Martin reviewed the calendar committee's recommendation: Calendar A carried 40–38 in the committee vote and the superintendent recommended the board adopt Calendar A for 2025–26, which sets the first student day on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The board approved the calendar by voice vote.
The board also approved annual grade‑level capacities required by statute and set each level to remain the same as last year: Pre‑K 60; K–2: 72; grades 3–5: 86; grades 6–8: 99; grades 9–12: 90; welding 10:1; band and PE: 50:1. Dr. Martin noted the capacities must be finalized by May 1 and recommended carrying last year’s levels forward.
Two governance resolutions were moved: to defer election of board president and vice president and to postpone setting next year’s meeting dates until the July meeting; the board voted to pass those resolutions. The board also accepted a $500 donation from Tyson to support the Hope Food Pantry.
The meeting moved to an executive session for 20 minutes at 7:10 p.m. with Dr. Myers and principals as needed.
