The board approved a bid from INA (Elmwood, Kan.) for $44,754 to upgrade security camera systems at Wiley and Holcomb elementary schools.
Dr. Martin said the district split an expected multi‑hundred‑thousand‑dollar upgrade into phases and received only one bid this cycle. He told the board that INA’s bid came in lower than expected, the company is local to the region and other districts had positive feedback on its work. ‘‘The bid comes in at 44,754,’’ he said, and noted district tech director Julie secured a Safe and Secure grant for $13,008.65 that will lower the district’s net cost to roughly $30,889.
The package includes new cameras, servers, software licenses, installation and warranties. The board moved and seconded the recommendation and approved the contract by voice vote.
District representatives said the phased approach will focus first on the two elementary schools and that procurement included research and calls with peer districts to vet the bidder.
