Ellsworth board accepts donations, celebrates student wins at state and national levels

The Ellsworth USD 327 Board of Education accepted several donations and used meeting time to recognize student and staff accomplishments.
At Mrs. Edgerle's motion, approved 7-0, the board accepted gifts including $300 from Pheasant’s Forever for FBLA; a grill valued at $500 from the Ellsworth Golf Course for FFA; $1,000 earmarked for the wood shop tied to attendance at the 2026 Build My Future event; $319.35 from the VFW to support the EES half marathon; $875 from the PTO for teacher appreciation at EES and KMS; and $350 from Kids Heart Challenge to EES physical education.
The board highlighted multiple student achievements: Mallory Dobrinski earned Chapter Member of the Year and advanced to nationals; several FCCLA members placed at state and will compete at the national level. Students and staff were recognized for successes in CTE scholarship awards, forensics (fourth place in 3A forensics by Andrew Hipp), state music solos and ensembles (numerous "I" and "II" ratings), art show awards, and FFA Career Development events (state placings). The board also congratulated the junior class for winning the yearlong Class of the Year competition and noted district events including graduation and upcoming school activities.
The accepted donations are intended to support extracurricular programs and student activities; the board recorded the acceptance vote as 7-0.
