The Eudora City Commission adopted Ordinance 1187 on May 11 to establish a franchise agreement with Zoom Fiber Network, LLC for fiber-optic internet service in the city. City Manager Zack Daniel told the commission state statute requires franchise agreements to be consistent across providers and that this agreement would enable Zoom Fiber to serve new multifamily developments on 10th Street across from Eudora Elementary School.
The ordinance was adopted by a 5-0 vote after a motion from Vice Mayor Alex Curnes and a second from Commissioner Grant High; final execution remains pending Zoom Fiber Network, LLC's review and acceptance of the agreement.
The franchise sets the administrative framework for fiber deployment in the defined development area; contractors, construction schedules, customer pricing and service details were not specified in the meeting record.
