Eudora commission approves alcohol at three summer events despite vice mayor's opposition

The Eudora City Commission voted April 27 to allow the sale, possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages at three scheduled summer events after separate votes on resolutions 2026-05, 2026-06 and 2026-07.
Each measure passed 3–1 with Vice Mayor Alex Curnes casting the lone no vote and Commissioner Jason Musick abstaining because of his involvement with the events. Commissioner Roberta Lehmann moved each resolution; the CPA Picnic motion was seconded by Mayor Tim Bruce, and the Main St Market and Kaw River Fest motions were seconded by Commissioner Grant High.
Vice Mayor Curnes said he "fully supports these gatherings but opposes alcohol being served at any public event," while Musick recused himself from voting on the events where he is involved.
The resolutions authorize alcohol at: the CPA Picnic (Resolution 2026-05) in CPA Park and portions of the 800 and 900 blocks of Main Street on June 11–14; the Eudora Main Street Market (Resolution 2026-06) in CPA Park and the 800–900 blocks of Main Street on July 3; and Kaw River Fest (Resolution 2026-07) covering CPA Park and the 700–900 blocks of Main Street on September 26.
