Elementary after-school program continued with opioid-settlement funding; MSBA names team for DHS roof project

Superintendent June Saba-Maguire updated the School Committee on June 8 about district programs, grants and capital projects, including the continuation of an elementary after-school program funded through opioid settlement dollars and progress on the Dartmouth High School roof project.
Saba-Maguire said the elementary-level after-school program, created in partnership with Dartmouth Advocates for Addiction, Recovery and Treatment (DAART), ran for six weeks and served 201 students. The program, she said, focused on prevention, education and connection; a survey of participating students and families was administered and results will inform improvements as the district plans continuation for the coming year.
On capital projects, Saba-Maguire reported that Town Meeting approved the district budget and that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has assigned Colliers Project Leaders as owner's project manager and EDM Studio as designer for the DHS roof project. A kickoff meeting was held and Colliers will visit the site for initial work; the Committee will be kept apprised of progress.
Saba-Maguire also provided updates on teaching and learning opportunities (leadership academies and regional showcases), noted kindergarten enrollment is unchanged since the last report and said the Committee will schedule a summer workshop with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees representative. The Committee agreed to cancel the June 22 meeting unless needed and set its next meeting for July 20, 2026.
