Derek Pich, a member of the committee that organized the 100th-anniversary celebrations for the F.J. Torres Causeway, told commissioners the commemorative plaque is complete and described its materials and proposed sites. He said the marker is a high-pressure-laminate graphic designed to resist fading for at least 10 years and that Gascoigne Bluff Park is the preferred permanent location because it was the site of the original celebration and gets more visitors than the visitor center.
Derek asked staff and the park managers for input on exact placement; county staff agreed to follow up so a final location can be set. The board offered informal approval to proceed with site selection and thanked the committee for the work on the centennial commemoration.
