The Edgerton City Council on March 13 authorized the City Administrator to approve purchases of three Public Works vehicles, approving not-to-exceed amounts that together total $197,569.
City staff said the purchases conform to the 2025 budgeted vehicle and equipment program and are being procured "off the lot" with later administrator approval for the final purchase. Staff presented cost estimates showing the infrastructure inspector's Class 2 truck would total about $47,043 with remaining aftermarket items under $3,500 and a recommended not-to-exceed authorization of $50,543. Two Class 3 vehicles (standard F-350 or similar) were proposed for snow-plow-capable roles: one to replace Unit 530 (estimated total $68,513, not-to-exceed $73,513) and one for a facilities position (not-to-exceed $73,513).
Staff noted all three purchases were estimated to be under the approved budget allocations. The council also directed staff to surplus Unit 530 in the manner that provides the most value (trade-in or online auction). Council approved each authorization on separate motions, each passing 3-0.
Councilmember Clay Longanecker moved the infrastructure inspector authorization; Councilmember Deb Lebakken moved the replacement of Unit 530 authorization; both motions were seconded and carried by recorded 3-0 votes. The council's approvals give the administrator authority to finalize purchases, upfits, plows and aftermarket items within the stated not-to-exceed limits.
