Council approves 230-foot communications tower permit near Dillie Road

Development Services Director Zach Moore told council that Evergy (KC Power & Light Co.) applied for a conditional use permit to replace an existing roughly 220-foot communications tower with a new 230-foot tower installed about 40 feet south of the existing structure at 18827 Dillie Road. Moore said the Planning Commission recommended approval with a 10-year permit. Council asked about the disposition of the old tower and Moore said the project replaces the existing tower under the agreement.
Council approved Ordinance No. 2173 to adopt the Planning Commission recommendation and allow the taller replacement tower; the vote was 5-0.
