The Edgerton City Council approved the appointment of Assistant City Clerk Alex Firth as Interim City Clerk after City Clerk Alexandra (Alex) Clower announced she was leaving for a position with Johnson County.
Mayor Donald Roberts removed the appointment resolution from the consent agenda to allow the appointment to be finalized in open session. Councilmember Clay Longanecker moved to approve the interim appointment; Councilmember Bill Malloy seconded and the motion passed 3–0.
Outgoing City Clerk Alexandra Clower addressed the council, thanked elected officials and staff for her seven years with the city and said she was excited about the new opportunity but sad to leave. City Administrator Beth Linn thanked Clower for her service and supported the appointment.
The appointment takes effect immediately to ensure continuity of city clerk duties while staff work to fill the position permanently.
