Altenburg School Board approves budget amendments, bills and insurance plans; moves to closed session

The Altenburg Public School District #48 Board of Education met on May 14, 2026, in the APS music/art room and approved several routine items including the agenda, minutes and financial measures before voting to enter closed session.

Mark Scholl moved to accept the meeting agenda; Cary Roth seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The board then approved the April 9 minutes by voice vote.

On fiscal business, the board reviewed the treasurer’s report and voted to approve the May bills. Lindsay Palisch moved to approve the bills and Cary Roth seconded; the motion passed with six votes in favor and one abstention by Richard Sachs. The board also voted 7-0 to approve the budget outlook and amendments “as amended,” on a motion by Cary Roth and a second from Mark Scholl.

Later in the meeting, Cary Roth moved and Brittany Hecht seconded a motion to approve the insurance plans being offered to district personnel; the motion passed 7-0.

At the end of the open session the board approved adjournment at 6:55 p.m. and then voted to enter closed session. Mark Scholl moved and Cary Roth seconded a motion to go into closed session for matters listed under Missouri Revised Statutes §610.021(1) related to hiring, firing, discipline or promotion of personnel and certain legal considerations. The minutes record a roll call with recorded 'Yea' votes for Mark Scholl, Amanda Klaus, Andrew Lichtenegger, Lindsay Palisch, Brittany Hecht and Cary Roth; the minutes' final roll-call line for the board president is garbled and unclear.
