Tippecanoe County commissioners voted July 20 to adopt resolution 2026-23-CM affirming an area plan commission order that advances creation of the Northwest Economic Development Area, a tax increment financing (TIF) district.
Staff explained the process: the redevelopment commission adopted a declaratory resolution in June to create the TIF district and approve a project that would allow for infrastructure creation. The area plan commission issued an order approving the declaratory resolution; the board's action affirms that order and sets the matter up to return to the redevelopment commission for a confirmatory hearing and potential bond issuance to finance infrastructure in the targeted area, which includes smaller suballocation parcels related to a Milbrook project.
A commissioner moved to adopt the resolution and the chair seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
