Residents tell commission drainage easement appears misplaced, raise sidewalk and maintenance concerns

At the Aug. 26 meeting of the Box Elder Planning & Zoning Commission, a Raider Point resident raised three neighborhood maintenance concerns and asked how the city will respond.
The resident, identified in the hearing as Kevin, said a drainage easement between Valor Court and Eagle Court appears to have been excavated in the wrong location and is cutting into backyards. "The easement is in the wrong place," he said, adding it is "about 10 foot too far to the West." Kevin said builders are installing fences across the area shown on the plat and residents are concerned about yard loss and potential drainage problems.
Kevin also raised worries about sidewalks being damaged by nearby development and an overgrown drainage lot at the Spirit Drive/Eagle Court connection that hides a fire hydrant. Staff asked Kevin to submit the plat drawing and email the planning department at planning@boxelder.us; planning staff said they would refer the overgrown site to code enforcement for inspection.
Planner Michelle Clavadach confirmed the city had looked at the issue and suggested sending the plat to planning staff for follow-up. The commission did not take formal action at the meeting but staff committed to further review and to coordinate code enforcement where appropriate.
